Eccentric Gear Drive
The Most Widely Used Drive System for Straightside Presses

- Slide motion provided by eccentric lobes that are part of the main drive gears
- Gears are mounted on pins that run front to back in the press crown
- Counter rotation of the gears nearly eliminates lateral thrust created by the angle of the connections at punch contact with the material
- Very long press strokes are possible due to the mounting direction of the gears Gears are timed at press assembly to provide superior slide parallelism through the press stroke
