- The driveshaft passes through the quill and operates in an oil film bearing
- Because the quill has a substantially larger OD than the driveshaft, the flywheel bearing becomes larger and therefore has more load carrying capacity and longer life
- Since the driveshaft is operating in an oil film bearing, less of the stamping shock and vibration is transmitted to the flywheel bearings
